He's soon noticed by the head of the department at his university, Jacob Reiser (Aidan Quinn), who takes the young man under his wing. However, when Liu Xing makes a breakthrough discovery in "dark matter" — one of the building blocks of the universe — he excitedly publishes his discovery, which puts him at odds with his mentor's own theories. Suddenly finding himself not to be the star student anymore, Liu Xing plots a dangerous and violent revenge.
